Wonder Calmer.

yet another attempt to sort out my thoughts and at what point I'm at in my life. This will have no signifigance to anyone else (most likely).

Reblog if you can speak, read, or at least kinda communicate in more than one language.

let’s see what ridiculous things he says

 rhyanna-snow said: You aren’t a fan?

he’s known to say problematic things while presenting. My partner’s had the pleasure of being called a “little shit” by him when he was 13 years old.

true to form, he said some problematic things yesterday at the Evergreen graduation.

Overall, it was a pretty decent speech, I thought. Funny at times… but it was certainly catered the the crowd. *shrug

I’m not sure who told the world this image and others like it are legit images/depictions of native american people, let a lone Choctaw, but it’s not. First off, can we talk about who those “poles” look like they’re from the pacific islands… they don’t even belong on the North American continent. Coming from the Pacific Northwest, I can personally tell you that is no where near the style of either the Coast Salish carvings or Alaskan native (i.e. the folks who actually traditionally carved totem poles.. the Haidas and Tlingit ) poles.
Second… well there’s so much stereotyping here I can’t even begin
Third, folks need to do a google image search on Choctaw. That has never been our traditional regalia.  Heck, i’m pretty dang sure that’s not the traditional regalia of any of the five tribes of the southeast. That there is the stereotypical version of plains style regalia.
so much to say, but i’m just gonna go a head and stop there. oh my dear lord.

Trying to finish this drawing of a native woman I started a couple months ago so I can paint it. I haven’t drawn/painted anything in a while. I need to get motivated/inspired.

note: choctaws never wore headdresses. (check out choctawnation.tumblr.com for photos of how choctaw [chahta] people dressed traditionally and currently. headdresses were worn by plains tribes… not southeastern tribes)

if you didn’t tag this post choctaw, my deepest apologies. It showed up in the Choctaw tag so I felt the need to say something.

Some old pictures I have of my Grandma’s beading book. Not sure what the book is called and I just took quick pictures the last time I was at her house for my own use so they’re not the best shots! I’ll try and get better ones/ more info when I go home next :)

Made for: littleangrytiger! Have fun beading, girl! ^.^
